Spring Inspiration

With the start of Spring comes a more potent appreciation of nature, and specifically the relationship between our homes and the outdoors.

Whilst we’re looking towards a (hopefully) warm summer and the joy of outdoor entertaining, this is the perfect time to think about how kitchen design can enhance the connection to our exterior spaces and invite lightness and brightness into our homes.

Take a look at these beautiful spaces that are designed to enhance the connection with the outdoors.

Follow the light

The skylight in this open-plan room is perfectly positioned, running the full length of the room and flooding the entire space with light, illuminating the dining table perfectly.

When creating this kitchen design we took the light sources into careful consideration to ensure the light hit the right areas of the room.

Dark sunshine

This kitchen, although created in a dark colour, retains its sense of light with a complete ‘wall’ of glass doors which create an almost seamless connection with the courtyard garden outside.

The colour chosen for the kitchen serves to enhance this connection with the dark, illuminating the outside to become an integral part of the room.

Garden views

This beautiful light-filled space benefits from a dual aspect, allowing the room to enjoy views of the meticulously landscaped gardens on both sides.

In this case, it was important to consider how the kitchen appeared from the outside looking in. We aimed to retain the sense of fluidity and calmness within the kitchen design to allow harmony between the two spaces.

Light and airy

The glass doors that surround this beautiful extension serve to create an excellent connection with the outdoors - whether that happens to be rain or shine!

This expansive kitchen, living and dining space uses zoning to ensure each area is distinct to its purpose, ensuring this large space is not overwhelming.

As the kitchen is in a slightly more covered area towards the back of the extension, we recommended a white aesthetic to ensure it retained the light and airy feel of the rest of the room.

Artists residence

A simple, but impeccably planned, bespoke kitchen and dining space. A bank of full-height glass doors connects the room to the outdoor space, and a roof light that extends down the side of the kitchen illuminates this room beautifully.

Our client wanted an ‘art gallery’ feel to the room, this neutral design allows the art to take centre stage.
